This review is for the WRGB II Pro 60, and the accompanying power supply.
Updated (5/30/22):
The issue I had with my power supply was promptly resolved by the seller. The replacement power supply I received does not get hot to the touch.
The lights look great on my newly set up tank. I also purchased the hanging kit which lets me place the lights as high I want. The colors look amazing and you don't get that rainbow dot affect since all the bulbs are RBG, not a mixture of red/blue/white bulbs. Please excuse the zip tied rocks. That driftwood keeps trying to float away.
One issue I had was with the app. It was tedious to choose the exact time you want. There's no time input, you have to move a circle bar to the exact right spot. Also, once an automation is set, there's no way to update it without deleting the entire routine. For example, if you wanted to change the color, you have to delete and recreate the routine. A few UX improvements on the Chihiros app would have made this a 5 star review.
Original Review (2 stars):
I'm setting up my first planted tank, and I read Chihiros is well received in the planted tank community. I don't have any plants yet, so I don't know how well these lights would do with real plants. The lights look well built, the iPhone app is simple and intuitive, and colors look appealing.
The item that concerns me highly is the power supply. It gets very hot. Too hot to hold for more than 10 seconds. It's in a plastic case with no heatsink, so I'm not sure how long it will last. Moreover, these lights are rated for 74 watts, and the power supply is rated for 75.6 watts. That's very close to the limit!
